Dr. Minton is a Board Certified Family Physician and the owner of Surry Rural Health Center, Scenic Urgent Care, and Scenic Pharmacy. It has been his dream for many years to bring comprehensive healthcare to the rural area of NC and VA. Dr. Minton provides care for
adults, children, women’s health, and minor surgical needs. He is particularly skilled at skin cancer removal and skin grafting. Dr. Minton is trained to perform in-office vasectomy and circumcision procedures.
His career began as a corpsman in the US Navy. Dr. Minton later attended UNC Charlotte where he majored in pre-med and obtained his licensure as an LPN. He worked as a private duty nurse for an ALS patient before attending medical school at Ross University. Dr. Minton went on to do his medical residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Dr. Minton also enlisted in the US Army Reserves as a physician where he obtained the rank of Major Minton and completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2012.
Dr. Minton currently lives in the Lowgap/Beulah community of NC where he raises bison on his 250-acre farm and operates an AirBnB business with his wife Catherine. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as working on the farm, doing construction projects, reading history books, antique collecting and hiking with his family and multiple pets. He is also an active member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mount Airy, NC. Dr. Minton is an Eagle Scout and volunteers as the on-call camp physician at Raven Knob Scout Reservation.
Timonthy has been a paramedic for 32 years, flight Nurse for 14 years, and recently retired From Forsyth County EMS after 28 years. He has been a Nurse Practitioner since January 2021.

Diana Rivera, PA-C grew up in southwestern Virginia. She attended Wytheville Community College for business administration, and in 2018, graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in health science. She worked with children, older adults, and special-needs individuals as a volunteer and certified nursing assistant before going back to school to become a physician assistant. Diana attended the Wake Forest School of Medicine and graduated in May 2021 with a Master of Medical Science degree. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is a proud animal owner. Diana trained with Dr. Minton during her education and is excited to be a part of the Surry Rural Health team.
Emily Addington, FNP-C was raised in Stokes and Surry counties. Graduated with her ADN in 2009, and worked at Forsyth Medical Center in the Neuro-ICU for over 13 years. She is certified in Neurology and stroke care. She received her BSN in 2018 from Gardner-Webb University and continued her education to receive her Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2022. She has worked in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care for all of her nursing career.
In her free time, Emily spends time with her three children and her extended family. She enjoys sporting events and outdoor activities as well as attending church with her loved ones. She is passionate about caring for the patient as a whole and hopes to make a positive impact on the community.
Teirraha Lowe, CPNP-PC is a native of Mt. Airy, North Carolina. She attended Surry Community college and graduated in 2008 with an Associate degree in Nursing. She began her nursing career at Brenner Children’s hospital where she has worked for 12 years. In 2011, she graduated Winston-Salem State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. Mrs. Lowe attended Duke University from 2018- 2019 where she graduated with a Master of Science Degree, specializing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Mrs. Lowe lives in the Lowgap community with her husband Adam, and two children. Mrs. Lowe believes she has truly found her calling in life working with children and adolescents, she is excited to serve the children of our community.
Joseph has been a FNP for 11 years with primary focus on emergency medicine and trauma. He has worked in multiple emergency departments in North Carolina and is very pleased to now be with Surry Rural Health Center's Urgent Care. Joe states "It is very rewarding working at SRHC. Getting to know the patients on a personal level is like working with family."
Jennifer has been a PA for 12 years. She graduated with her master's from Nova Southeastern University. She has spent 8 years in emergency medicine and four years in the neuro ICU. She moved to the area from Naples FL. She spent the last year working at Hugh Chatham ER. She is extremely grateful to have my newest opportunity to be with SRHC in Urgent Care. She currently lives in Galax, VA. Jennifer has a wonderful husband and two children. During her days off she loves to spend time with family and her animals.
